A Clinton Hill/Bed Stuy Community Aid Fund
The Prema Hummingbird Mutual Aid is committed to uplifting our neighbors in need by offering assistance with dignity and compassion. Through direct support and community-driven initiatives, we empower individuals and families to overcome challenges while fostering a deeper sense of connection and shared humanity, one meaningful project at a time.
Who We Are
Prema Hummingbirds is the 501(c)(3) non-profit arm of Prema Yoga Brooklyn. We strive to offer support gently yet purposefully, much like the delicate yet determined nature of hummingbirds, responding wherever help is needed most.
The mutual aid fund is dedicated to addressing food security and providing eldercare, acute family support, fostering community fellowship, and advocating for animal welfare.
Our approach focuses on providing incremental, sustained support to help empower disenfranchised community members.
Our Purpose
Yoga transcends physical practice; it embodies the art of nurturing relationships and recognizing the profound interconnectedness of all beings. Through the establishment of mutual aid as a natural extension of our yoga studio, we embrace the truth that our health, dignity, and well-being are intrinsically linked.
Imagine if every neighborhood took a step beyond its confines—what if we actively engaged with those within our immediate radius? In doing so, we would not only serve one another but also cultivate relationships that bring forth the highest expressions of ourselves and our shared humanity. Our endeavor aims to bridge the chasm between an insular, self-serving existence and a world that flourishes through the beauty of connection, community, and a humble presence that fulfills each other’s needs.
Through the Prema Hummingbird Mutual Aid initiative, we aspire to forge dedicated partnerships between volunteers and households within our community. Our inaugural project focused on enhancing food security by facilitating the distribution of monthly groceries tailored to each family's unique preferences. As we continue to nurture these relationships, our avenues of support have expanded to include companionship for the elderly, comprehensive family assistance, community gatherings, animal welfare, and beyond. Together, we can illuminate a path toward a more compassionate and interconnected world.
We Serve The Clinton Hill Community
Our Fulton studio, nestled at the intersection of Clinton Hill and Bed-Stuy, will serve as the operational hub for this transformative program. At the core of our initiative lies a commitment to fostering genuine connection and building trust with every individual who seeks our support.
While we are deeply committed to helping as many people as possible, as a small fund, our resources are limited. For this reason, we are currently focused on supporting individuals and families in the areas immediately surrounding our yoga studio, where we can make the greatest impact.
